"Cleaning up" as in becoming

"Cleaning up" as in becoming more mainstream. For example when you get a job and "clean up" by getting a haircut and wearing clean clothes. It's not literal it's a metaphor for becoming more moderate (in this context). The poster is saying that Socialism in 2015 is wasting energy by criticizing Hilary that could be better used fixing problems. Personally I got to admit there's some truth to that. The type of militant socialism expressed here really has a lot in common with militant conservatives, militant evangelicals, etc. It's uncompromising to the point of becoming really rigid and stale, instead of what it's intended to be.
